About

Green Mountain Homestead is a working homestead with chickens and dairy goats. It is run by the Earl family, who all have different strengths and work together to make the homestead function.
Melissa is the mom. She loves to garden, can, and raise chickens. She also makes bread of many different types, including sourdough, kamut, and sandwich bread.
Matthew is the dad. He builds many things with wood. He also helps with all the hunny-do tasks that Melissa asks him to do. He funds all the crazy ideas Melissa has and helps everyone with their tasks.
We have 6 kids who all help us with weeding, selling, and baking. But they also have strong interests. We foster those through interest-led homeschool and farm tasks.
We raise Nubian and Guernsey Goats. We show them with ADGA, and we have a 4H Club where we help kids have the opportunity to raise dairy goats. They learn the tasks of caring for the goats, proper nutrition, and care for the goats, and they learn to care for the goats and show them properly. We love goats and helping the next generation learn about this amazing animal that can sustain your family in so many ways.
We also raise chickens and sell eggs. We currently have over 20 chickens. They are free-range, and we give them a balanced diet. They love their life picking through the grass for the bugs and worms. We sell their eggs when we have excess, and we sell chickens as pullets and layers.
